Fun | Ice-Cream Sharing

Nothing beats the heat like an ice-cream on a hot summer’s day in South Africa!  Danru has recently discovered the joys of this milky, smooth and sweet icy cold treat.  Previously he had a bad experience or two where he ended up with kind of a “brain-freeze” when the bite was too big.  He would end up in tears and be so disgusted with the ice-cream that he doesn’t want anymore.... Now that he understands the concept of ‘small-little-bites-at-a-time’ he would actually come and ask for an ice-cream from time to time.

Giving him an ice-cream on a sugar cone the other day {this was done outside and right before bath time J}, he made himself comfortable on the grass with his back against the outside wall, legs pulled up and ice-cream in the hand.  You could see the enjoyment on his face as he licked it away.

Romé was crawling closer and closer to investigate the funny shaped item that her brother was eating and his sharing skills was put to the test.  I guess it was her longing eyes that made him give her a bite and another and another….. I was quite proud of him for sharing so nicely as the other day we really had to push him hard to give her some of his NikNaks.  This is one of the benefits growing up with a sibling I suppose, as you learn how to share early in life.

The part that I enjoyed most, was to see him getting so drawn into Romé’s actions that he would open his mouth when she took a bite or lick with his tongue when she licked.  Luckily my sister was close with her camera to capture this moment!
